Amartya Inauguration 

        The inauguration of the Economics Association "Amartya" will be held on 29th of June, 2015 in the Main Auditorium in Christ University. Amartya is in charge of all the activities that the department will conduct over the course of the academic year. Brilliantly led by Sonam Tandan last year, the reins of the association is with the department President, Lucy Reeta Pious of II M.A. this year. The inauguration will be graced with the presence of Dr. C.T Kurien a renowned economist who is working at the Madras Institute of Development Studies (MIDS). The other office bearers include Alan - Vice President, Gargi Sridharan - Treasurer, Sachin Varghese - Secretary, Indu Sukumar - Placement Coordinator (PG), Tasneem Fathima - Placement Coordinator (UG), Jerris Joseph Sunny - Editor and Harsha Jain - Sub Editor. This time the students under the department have increased due to the commencement of new courses like B.A. honors in Economics and a triple main of Journalism, Economics and Political science. We are looking forward to an eventful and engaging academic year at Christ University. 

Overview 

    This blog has been created to post all the major activities that takes place in the Department of Economics, Christ University Bangalore. Established in the year 1969, the Department of Economics is one of the strongest and vibrant departments in the campus. Currently the department, under the leadership of Director Rev. Fr. Joseph Varghese and Prof. Emmanual P. J, Head of the Department, along with twelve accomplished faculty members offers a wide array of Research programme, postgraduate programme, and undergraduate courses. To promote the holistic development of the students and to sustain the academic creativity and inventiveness of the faculty the department engages in numerous workshops, seminars, industrial interfaces, faculty development programme and many such endeavours.
